I was fortunate enough to get a Private Screening of Neovault 3. It is absolutely without a doubt the best pole vault video to ever hit the market. Everything about this DVD is a step up from the other two--most importantly is Disc 2 with the Bonus features. There is stuff on that disc that is price...

flying 30's

jumpbackin, You don't want to do more than 3 flying 30's (one warmup--4 total), because each one is maxed out at 100%--after about 3 you risk injury (assuming you're doing them at an ALMOST uncontrolled speed). In addition, the quality of your flying 30's will start to diminish after 3 or so. We usu...

In response to "What is a flying 30"?

It's a a pure sprint. Using cones or a finish line on the track, mark a zone of 30 meters--start 10 meters back from the 30 meter zone; build into a full sprint (hopefully by the time you reach the start of the zone), and have someone time you through the 30 meter zone. It's very simple. Do not use ...

Of course you can't blame everything on money. But, of those who have jumped 6 meters with very good PR's at a younger age are many times developed from that younger age with the goal of being a professional track athlete in mind. They are picked at a very young age to attend full time schools where...

That's a bold statement to say that we should have several men and women in the top 10 world rankings. Remember, we are one country that pole vaults, out of many countries? There are only 10 spots in the top ten; if we have two or three that's a very good statistic! I think the main problem with the...

DJ, You didn't piss me off. I'm simply presenting a viewpoint different from yours. I do agree with you in many ways (especially how you've explained it in the last post); although, you must look at the development of coaching technique in this country on a broader timeline. We were really in troubl...

It still doesn't support the point SlickVT was trying to make. I believe the purpose of those posts was to illustrate (as DJ started), that Americans don't know how to coach/vault and something like "Americans have their head up their A?!@??". It seems to me that Toby, Tim Mack, Brad Walker, etc... ...

I see. I guess the fact that you premised the point with "us Americans" just threw me off?

DJ, What are you talking about? The best group of MEN pole vaulters in the world are from the USA. Your speaking as if our pole vaulters have done nothing up to this point in time. This event like others is very cyclical; USA women were dominant for time, now it's a different country. It just happen...
