Region of the country they came from
Progression over past 4 years

CrossFit anyone?

I'm fully convinced that any pole vaulter / decathlete could carry on their athletic abilities to the CrossFit Games and do quite well. http://games2010.crossfit.com/about/ You could list a whole wrap sheet of guys over the last 20 years that would clean house at these events! I think pole vault sho...

Prelims were rough. I'd say the surprise for me was Buller. I hadn't seen him compete all year but the guy is on it. He blew through twice in warm ups and looked world class at 5.50. Walker and Mack look typical with little or no need to many vaults to get 5.80+. Miles, Pauli, Hartwig are contenders...

Brad, It was great seeing you develop since you stepped on in the Big Ten your freshman year. It's been fun competing against each other and I won't forget your focus and tenacious comittment in your career and the way you vaulted on that day in Houston Indoor 2007. Good luck with all your future en...

Siros, There are good words of experience about take off and swing in previous posts. I don't see any problem with vaulting at a bar in practice. Plenty of great coaches encourage this and encourage 100% of the time from long run approaches. It's important to understand where the bar is, however, st...

Thanks guys.

Needing 4.90 from 7 left approach and 5m from long run.

Are you going to Reno?

If you're going to reno, bring em with. If not, I'll be talking to you as the season progresses for the 5m. Most likely looking for a series of 17.4 - 16.3.

Board Runways in Texas/Houston Area?

Hey all,

Looking for two things in regards to board runways:

(1) Competitions near Houston, TX with board runways

(2) Who has a portable board runway in TX? At least 120 ft.

Anyone? What's the nearest?

Food for thought here. To answer your question Barto: I'm thinking 40 guys. Can't say for the girls. College Polevaulters and above is probably in the realm of 400. So that leads us to think that smaller than 10% of college athletes continue to post collegiate. Agree/Disagree? More so I'd like to co...
