The August Street Vault was great! What a fun day. I'm sure this will be too! Thanks for putting these on.

Re: The best spike for beginning pole vaulters...
The best spike for beginning vaulters is no spikes.
Unfortunately seen injuries when beginning vaulters land on pit with twisting body. Catching a spike in top pad and twisting has torn knee cartilage. Also beginners can spike a pole. Hold off before letting beginners use spikes.

Re: HAND GRIP WIDTH?
Stiffer pole, wider grip, soft pole narrower grip Wide grip, harder to inverter, narrow grip easier to invert It is a good thing to experiment with different grip widths as conditions and poles may create a need for grip width change. Best to become comfortable in practice. You'll be a more versatil...

Re: The Swing To Extension of the hips
Good, I must have looked at someone else's jump on the video site. Then try practicing on a high bar or high parallel bars to get the feel of a long sweeping trail leg in an easier environment.

Re: The Swing To Extension of the hips
Hard to have a good trail leg swing when the takeoff is under. Fix that and then you have a chance at good trail leg swing.

Re: running schedule
If you have or can get about (14) 12” banana hurdles, set them out at a consistent spread, mark where each goes on the track so you can set them up easily every day. 4-1/2 foot spread seems to work well for most vaulters. Be very consistent on the spacing. (Track coaches will perhaps let vaulters us...

Re: What am I observing in Reno videos?
Great post question and discussion! Biomechanics suggests rotation will be slower and take more muscle when the lead leg is dropped as the effective radius of rotation is longer. That may load the pole more early but makes getting inverted soon enough a challenge. If not inverted when the pole begin...

Re: Qualifications to organise clinics/camps
We have lots of coaches because we have many that did the event, know the event and enjoy keeping it going helping youth. If few do it in a country there likely would be few older vaulters around to coach. If only the elite coach counts, then fewer schools would offer the event and result would be d...

Re: Gain weight or lose it
Kinetic energy is ½ mv squared so I figured a few years back that lighter faster was more effective although I am still believer strength training helps too, especially as an over 50 vaulter. Body fat does you no good although I have too much by far! Much more resistant to injury as you get older if...

Re: AGPVC Labor Day Weekend Vault Fest 2012, Jacksonville, FL
http://www.antigravitypolevaultclub.com/AGPVC_2012_Vault_Fest_Scoresheet.xls We did a cumulative height with handicap for this. Scoresheet was kind of complicated. 10 jumps any height any time during the day. Very hot! Think everyone had a great time. Neat thing was lower jumpers could be jumping s...
