Can I Vault More?
OK, I am 99% sure the answer to this question is a "No way! Give it up, you're done!" but I'm going to give it a shot anyway...So I vaulted for 4 years in college and graduated. I'm thinking about going to grad school and could not bear the idea of going to school and not vaulting. Is there any way ...

The shed at my school is spray-painted "Pole Vaulters are Nuts." It's been there so long no one knows anymore who wrote it and when. I also get the "You're crazy" stuff constantly...the fact that I like sky diving and stuff doesn't exactly help my case for sanity. Any other thrill seekers out there?...

I always go to the back of the runway when I'm up third (in the hole) so I can stand to the side and visualize. Then when I get on the runway, I plant the pole in front of me, pick it up, and go. I don't like to make a big show about it or think about too much...seems to work for me since I never ev...

I also go from 8 lefts, which is usually around 93 feet for me. You are only at 6 lefts right now? I would suggest starting to move it back! You shouldn't just be using your long run at the end of the season; you should have it pretty much perfected for the big meets. At this point I don't think you...

I coach 16...and I had to make cuts when we had over 20. It's kinda crazy sometimes, but we jump in 2 different groups and there are always a few kids that are sick or injured that I don't have to worry about as much as the others. I actually wish I had fewer vaulters, but it's too late now...can't ...

I agree; don't think about the bar. If you do what you need to do to improve the technique of your vault, you will clear it. I coach a few vaulters who jump great with a bungee, but when I put up the bar they just look at it and change the whole vault...so your problem is common. We've been putting ...

Could be a lot of things...you could be holding too high, on too big of a pole, slowing down at takeoff, leaning back at takeoff, not jumping at takeoff, not having your arms all the way up, or any combo of the above. Incidentally, I wrote in with the same question a couple years ago after spending ...

I  zebra poles!!! (Carbon Pacer Mystics) I'm 5'5" 125 on a 13'6" 150. I like to train more on Spirits since they seem easier to get onto, but the zebra poles will throw you more if you can vault on them. (I'm often not fast/pumped up enough to vault on the Mystics during practice...need the a...
