More than likely the pole didn't break where she was gripping. I had my hand split open on the palm from the vibration from a pole break 10" from my bottom hand. The energy put into the poles is amazing and when there is pole failure the enery has to go somewhere. I know of several athletes tha...

Lyndell Farmer and Drew Bentley have a vault club that meets in Daphne, AL at jubilee gymnastics to vault inside. 63 feet of runway. Alabama and Florida sure could use another vault guy.

I did the same thing my freshman year in college. Brand new pole, broke on my second jump. also fractured knuckle on index finger.

I think Tim is saying that the vault can be an up and down event. Not as predictable as a distance event.
