Re: Placement vs. Pressure

Some vaults by John Pennel https://youtu.be/IhJbTHnt9UA Prime example of looking at the link between athlete and equipment. I never had the privilege of using the poles or being around the poles Pennel used. To compare what he was doing to the norm of modern age poles (depending on brand) is quite ...

Re: Help Me.

The grip issue is critical, I agree. However, since her primary fear is landing in the box, I have been delaying raising her grip until that issue was resolved. This is an assumption that grip = fear of landing in the box? Softer, but longer poles with more grip tend to allow the pole to open up ea...

Re: Help Me.

Jenn Suhr seems to grip down a foot on the pole she used to set the indoor record and not have the shape of the hoop interfere. I'll have to read your post over, it seems that you have different and interesting ideas though. Plus gripping down itself doesn't cause same things for everyone. Each vau...

Re: Help Me.

Jen is on 15'7 to 16'1 poles. Jen grips above 15'. You can not compare gripping down on a 15'7 pole as the same as down on a13'1 pole. The interaction with the pole is massively different. Opinions and thoughts are just that personal. Each athlete is different and there is no one answer to make some...

Re: Help Me.

No hard data was given on her just please help me. Please correct the following assumptions off the video of the 13' make... 10' Take off Is it a 13' or 13'7 pole so 12'4 or 13' grip so 11'8 or 12'4 effective grip for a 13'1 make meaning 9" to 1'4" push.. Excellent IMO. What is her speed o...

Re: Physics Based Critique of the Petrov Method

Thank you ADTF Academy for the pictures. On the basis of this evidence in regard to the take-off in question I remain skeptical that the fail was due to an “out” take-off. To be fair, the public domain evidence is perhaps lacking sufficient quality and hence unable to unequivocally resolve the issu...

Re: Physics Based Critique of the Petrov Method

Once again thank you to ADTF for correcting my error and for his kind offer to put up some critical stills from his video that will confirm 1. That Bubka was out at take-off and 2. Show “beyond reasonable doubt the distance “out” at take-off" was approximately half a metre. (An approximate gau...

Re: Physics Based Critique of the Petrov Method

To DJ and ADTF Thank you for pointing out my mistake. What video evidence there is available in the public domain of the jump in question is still a reasonable record of the actual event but clearly is open to further critical scrutiny. Once again thank you to DJ and ADTF for pointing out my mistak...

Re: Physics Based Critique of the Petrov Method

2. The cause of this happening according to Renaud's explanation was that he was 50cms under on the approach run ie., 50cms too close to the box when the pole impacted it. This is miss information.... He was 50cm OUT at his mid Dj Agreed Miss Information... I have the slow motion video from the mee...

Re: Lavillenie vs Bubka

Commonalities in the jump..... Debating which technique is superior the athlete in question needs to be taken into account not the masses. Renaud has the highest clearance in history. Therefore he is officially the highest jumper of all time. I'm guessing even Renaud would say he needs to jump 6m+ m...
