Re: Rule 6-4. 3b

http://www.ncaapublications.com/productdownloads/TF16.pdf That is the link (I hope) for the 2015 /2016 rule book, and the rule in question is Rule 6 Sec 4. the part that is new has been highlighted. As I understand the new rule if you have separate pits (or separate flights) no matter where the tie ...

Rule 6-4. 3b

Just got notice of this "new" rule. There is no tie breaker if separation (high and low pits) is used in the PV or HJ.

Re: Box Collar Choices

For getting water out of the box I purchased a battery pump (as shown in previous post from Home Depot) very slow and very unsatisfactory. I then got a hand pump similar to the orange one showen from HD (it came with a kayak we purchased). It works great and very fast at emptying even a full box. An...

Re: Carson Dingler, Record video

Record attempts are measured before the vault, and not after. I think that is the case in HS, NCAA, and USATF. Help me out if that is not the case.

Re: Eligibility Question.

Best advice I can give is check with you state HS association. I'm not 100% sure but seems to me I heard that HS can only compete against college athletes in an open meet. Best bet check before you compete. This is not a case where it is "easier to get forgiveness than to get permission". ...

Re: First Meet with the new box collar.

Shortly after my post I received this post - the author did follow up with an oops - he wanted to say December 1 not January 1 - OK officials keep your eyes open. As you know, the NCAA mandated the use of a new pole vault box collar/padding, beginning January 1st, 2013 for all D-I, D-II, and D-III s...

Re: opinions on box collars so far?

I think for the measuring issue for my device I will have with me a 1cm thick piece of hard wood which I can slip under the collar and stand my device on it to make the measurement. (Then I will just add the 1cm as part of the offset put into the laser)

Re: First Meet with the new box collar.

Volunteer - I'm trying to get the word out to as many officials as I can so they will be on the look out for this issue. Just as we have to watch for "tail wind situations" outdoors, we will have to watch for "collar bounce back" indoors. As I said I did not see this but was advi...

Re: opinions on box collars so far?

I was able to put my measuring device on the edge of the box by compressing the collar a little. did not have to side the device between the front pad with the top pad / tongue rolled back. Don't know if I could have. I know the part of the collar that goes under the pads is pretty large. I'll check...

Re: opinions on box collars so far?

I have to say I was kind of "on the fence" about the new box collar. Well today I officiated my first meet with the new equipment, and I am sold! From the pictures had seen I was afraid the collar would intrude on the box too much. Not the case if anything the collar seem to direct or even...

Re: Let's talk about box collars!

This memo, which came out in late Aug., explains that the "wings", which extend into the box, are an option. Seems to me the statement in the last part of the memo - At this time, we are unsure as to whether competitions will need to supply both a pole vault box collar with wings and a col...
