backyard pit in Forest Lake, MN (SOLD)

Hey Gang,
This is our old club pit. NOT HIGH SCHOOL LEGAL. Except for a couple of tears in the front buns vinyl it's in really good shape.

Re: Advice on Plant

Another thing you might want to focus on is to try to keep the left hand in front of the sternum as the pole tip drops. Notice how left hand goes lower and lower from your third left out. As the pole tip drops so does your left hand where at it's lowest point is around your waste line or so. It leav...

Re: 56 and Is it possible?

Kirk is dead on with his advice. I find that with my new and new/old vaulters I keep them on a stiff pole pretty much for the first year. (Sessions are once a week during the "no snow" months). It's probably been said already but I think it bares repeating. A bending pole will hide a lot o...

Re: MASTERS PV SUMMIT NOW A REALITY *Edited*

This was an absolute great weekend. The symposium in the morning presented some great insight and conversation. The afternoon 2 pit competition was an absolute hoot as well as a darn good event. The feature "buy a jump for $10" was a big hit. C-Ram, Herge and the rest of the Foster officia...

I believe Bruce Caldwell at Essx made a 12 or 13 200 for Bob Banhagle. I would check with him.

Re: Flatline

Another thing to keep in mind is that with a 8' foot to 10 foot jump you won't have time to fully invert. It would be interesting to know where your grip is. For a 9 foot jump your grip should be somewhere around 10' 6". If it's higher than that then you're gripping too high and probably taking...

Re: 56 and Is it possible?

OK, Now that we have brought up the take it easy part. As to the aches and pains? Sorry they will always be there on Monday if you jump on Saturday. It's called DOMS (delayed onset muscle stiffness) It's just how this goes at our age. What I tell all Geezers who contact me about come backs (Bubba al...

Re: 56 and Is it possible?

I think it's time for me to interject my "rule of 65". What this is is simply an effort to point out that you have an 18 year old brain sitting on top of your 56 year old body. Therefore you have to remind yourself often that a 65% effort in your brain is closer to a 100% effort on everyth...

Re: Problems with grip

Your problem may not be the poles but your steps and take off spot. I'm guessing that each time you go up a pole you are also raising your grip. Well? If your take off spot remains the same with each pole then obviously you may be progressively moving from a "right on" take off spot to und...

Re: Indoor season is upon us.

I envy you guys in states that have indoors seasons. Minnesota does not have one. Maybe that's why our state meet record is just 15' 7". What has occurred is that a couple of the clubs in the Twin City area has indoor pole vault camps. Most of those high schoolers participate in the USATF Minne...

Re: Ruling?

Although this may not address this topic specifically I had a situation at a meet that I was officiating that I feel in my opinion was a correct way to handle unsafe vaulting. A particular colleges' vaulters were all gripping too high for their ability and coming up short. Out of three of this schoo...

Minnesota Open and Masters Indoors has been announced

Hey Gang! The Minnesota USATF Indoor Open and Masters Championships date has been announced. We have a firm date of March 9th, 2014 for this event. The meet will be held at the University of Minnesota Field house. My goal is to get as many out of state Masters as possible to come and compete at our ...
