Re: Fastest to coach 18ft male and 14ft female?

I personally have no idea. There's probably no way to track this except through word of mouth. This would be so hard to measure.... I mean, did the coach that you speak of really only have 5 years of experience and produced an 18 & a 14? Or, did they receive a 17 foot male and a 13 foot female a...

Wall behind pit?

I have a raised runway, and the pit sits on a deck. The pit is a USC 1790, decent sized. My issue is that the pit slides ever so slightly after each use. So, after a week or so, I must dismantle the pit and push all the pads back into position, which takes about an hour or so. Would it be advisable ...

Re: Pulling to Swing

Grass and sand. Take the kids to the long jump pit. Show them how to swing correctly on a pole, and then slowly raise the grip and lengthen the run. My junior high kids spend just as much time in the sand and grass as they do the pit. One handed: I'm not a huge fan of this drill, but if a kid won't ...

Exactly this! I've never had a vaulter whose takeoff was on or free complain about back pain. All my "under" kids eventually begin complaining about lower back pain.

Re: Looking for advice on improvement

Knowing that the outdoor HS season is coming to a close soon, the best advice that I would give you is to use a heavier rated (lower flex #). You've probably been jumping on that 13-6 165lb pole for 2 years or more, so don't make drastic pole changes unless you want to no-height in your last few mee...

Re: interpretation of rule change

I'd like to add to this. With the new box collars, often a pole will get stuck between the back of the box and box collar lip, thus causing the pole to not be able to fall back towards the runway but instead it stays in the box and may move back towards the crossbar. I personally witnessed this and ...
