Re: Next pole vault star ?

I don't know how much those progression marks mean. After three years of experience, and at 17 years old, I jumped 15' 9" holding at 14' 7". Am I the next world competitor? I wouldn't mind it haha, but I don't think my marks warrant that kind of prediction.

Re: Sprint Spikes for Pole Vault.

If sprint spikes were to be used exclusively for meets that would make the wear and tear negligible, as well as the shin splint issue, no? I understand that many people cannot justify having more than one pair of spikes, but if we are talking about the absolute best conditions for pole vault it stil...

Re: Sprint Spikes for Pole Vault.

Is the takeoff really that stressful to the point where it can cause significant injuries?

Sprint Spikes for Pole Vault.

Hi guys, I'd like to have a discussion about using sprint spikes for pole vaulting. I know a lot of advanced vaulters and coaches use/recommend triple jump spikes, the most common that I've seen are the Nike TJ 3's. And the reason I've seen most stated for this is because of the heel padding and the...

Re: HUGE PR. 16 9

Now that I think about it, it doesn't really make too much sense. I have always been under the impression that a wider handgrip helps get on bigger poles at the sacrifice of the invert and narrower handgrips make it harder to get on bigger poles but easier to swing up. I suppose someone told me that...

Re: HUGE PR. 16 9

Thank you! To be honest, my grip usually isn't that wide, however on that pole I had bottom and top hand grips taped separately and when I raised my grip i ran out of tape on my bottom hand but was too lazy to put another layer on it so I just gripped at the top of the bottom hand tape, about 2 or 3...

HUGE PR. 16 9

I just moved to an 8L approach for this meet. It was my last chance to qualify for nationals in Oregon with 5m. My PR previously was 16 1. I Hit 5m and then hit 5.11 shortly after to get the all time state mark. I'm not even sure I want advice, I just want to share it because I'm so excited. Thanks ...

Re: 16 foot clearance, close attempt at 5m.

Thank you for the feedback. I mostly was looking for one or two minor tweaks to focus on this week in practice that could make the difference. I jump on Saturday so I have some time, but not much.

16 foot clearance, close attempt at 5m.

Hello PVP. This weekend I had my sectional meet to qualify for the state tournament. It was a good day. I opened at 14, passed to 15, then 15 6. I made all of these on my first attempt. I took three attempts at 16 and made it. Then 16 5, I almost had it on the third attempt. Below is 15 6, 16 and 16...

Re: Help on putting bottom and top together.

Thank you for the feedback! I have been getting frustrated with my inablilty to replicate the positions from the top video. Maybe it is an issue of grip because now that I think about it my legs only tend to get apart at higher grips.

Help on putting bottom and top together.

This: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CV9p9hVJd-8 Is a video of me. The top video is from the first week of practice. Notice how my takeoff is poor and my hips get sucked under, however the top half of the vault is done extremely well, at least for the level I am at. In the bottom video my takeoff, ...

Re: New Indoor PR- 15' 3"

Thank you! And I jumped from a 7L for the first time this past meet. The goal is to get to 8L by the end of the year. Also, my grip increased to 14' 11" for the first time ever. I only jumped 15 but I had huge hip heights and just needed some more adjustments that I didn't have from bailing out...
