United will fly poles in containers 16' (4.87) or shorter for $80 each way.

Policy not listed on their website. A call to a United Customer Relations representative on 11/22/04 revealed their policy. Vaulting poles are considered a fragile item, so you may need to fill out a special form. Cost is $80 each way. You must allow a minimum extra 30 minutes at the baggage check in. Containers must be 16' (487cm) or less.

If the ticket agent is having trouble finding "Vaulting Poles", tell them to look under F*Bag-Sport.
